Circa: 1942 - 1945 Country of Origin: United States Manufacturer: Shiny Brite
Six brightly colored striped unsilvered glass Christmas ornaments from the 1940s World War II years, when silver nitrate was needed for military use, forcing the ornament manufacturers to use only sprayed and painted colors. All but one are Shiny Brites, ranging from 2-1/4" to 3 inches diameter. The main colors are green and red, with colorful painted and mica stripes of yellow, white, pink, green, and blue. One ornament has an unusual opaque green rather than transparent finish. The coloring is very good and there are no chips or breaks, though some of the painted stripes have scratches as shown.
