This vintage hand painted porcelain plate is marked with the Noritake mark #27 in green: Noritake / M in a Laurel Wreath (The Morimura Bros. Importers of New York-c 1911 +) / Hand Painted / Made in Japan.
The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake back stamp for importing is 1911. The Morimura Brothers, Noritakes founder, Baron Ichizaemon Morimura and his younger brother, Yutaka Morimura established in New York in 1878, was the first imported goods shop to import Japanese antiques and porcelain.
Antique Nippon porcelain, as this china was called during the period from the 1890's through the early 1920's, denoted country of origin rather than products from a specific manufacturer. Nippon is the anglicized word for Japan or land of the rising sun.
After the early 1920's, the more English Made in Japan began to appear, mandated by The United States requirement of Japan instead of Nippon for the sake of clarity for American readers.
However, other countries made no such demand, and Nippon appears on many products after that date.

In very good + condition, without chips, cracks or fleabites it measures 1/2 inch high and 6 3/4 inches in diameter.
