Offering this very nice clean smooth plane marked "STANLEY MADE IN U.S.A." on the cutter, and "BAILEY NO. 4 MADE IN U.S.A." on the bed. This plane has about 95% original black Japanning intact, a good sharp cutter, no cracks, some light staining or darkening on the bare metal surface, and some minor pitting noted, very clean bare metal surfaces, no rust. The rosewood front knob and rear handle are very nice, solid, with with the heavy varnish finish that Stanley offered in the mid-1900's era, minimal wear about 95% intact on the lacquer finish. The cap cover has about 90% nickel plating intact, bright finish with the "STANLEY" mark in raised lettering. A ready to use or display plane by a top quality maker! One of the nicest we have seen from the mid-1900's era!
