Circa: Late 1800's-Early 1900's Condition: Good+ Manufacturer: Stanley Rule & Level Co. New Britian Conn. U.S.A.
This is a nice clean late 1800's version of the 2 to 4 foot extension rule. This rule is design to fit into pocket or openings such as doors and windows that are between 2 and 4 feet. This rule is made of maple and has two sections, one that extends to measure an end to end distance, and is so calibrated and the inch graduations on the extension section to direct read the measurement. It has brass hardware and end tips. It is not marked with the Stanley name, but is exactly like another one I have that is marked with the Stanley Rule and Level Co. marking. There is inch graduations on one side only as per factory original. The rule has easy to see and read graduations, very little wear on the markings, as you can see the top section of this rule has a stain on the maple that has darkened that section, but the graduations can still be seen, there is some small scratches and minor stains here and there, and one small edge chip on the non-graduation edge in the middle of the extension section only, but overall a good useable rule! The brass is solid, no damage, works as it was designed. Pretty nice! |
