Manufacturer: Gila Pottery
This tile was made by Bob and Charmion McKusick of Gila Pottery in Globe, Arizona. The tile design was done by a friend of theirs, White Bear. White Bear, also known as Oswald Fredericks, was a highly respected native American Hopi artist. He was particularly well known for his kachinas. This tile depicts a Hopi kachina – the Crow Bride Kachina. The basket typically contains corn and bean sprouts. The tile measures about 5 1/2" square. Although undated it was probably made in the 1970's. It is in excellent condition. It has the impressed Gila Pottery mark on the back and is signed with White Bear's cypher on the front. (#1616 )
