Circa: 1910s Condition: Used Size: 8.5 inches Manufacturer: Edmunds and Jones Corp.
This vintage auto carriage lamp measures about 4 inches by 4 inches and 8.5 inches high. Circa 1910s. Flat black metal with three convex glass inserts: one red, one white, and one blue. Each glass insert measures about 3.5 inches in diameter. The top of this lamp is marked E. & J., Detroit, Mich. Also marked Pat. Dec 9, 1908. This style of lamp was originally mounted on the sides of automobiles. They were lit by hand and the driver could remove the kerosene oil lamp for hand light. This vintage lamp has been electrified and includes a candelabra bulb and socket. I don’t know if this modified lamp is functional and the original oil font base is not included. No chips or cracks in glass inserts but there are surface scratches. This side lamp has wear and some rust. Good condition.
