The crate this came from was used by Libby, McNeill & Libby, USA, to transport Canned Meats from Argentina to American grocery stores in the 1940s-50s. The ‘Libby’s 100 Famous Foods’ logo is stamped into the wood of the crate’s side, with both red and blue inks used in the stamping. What a great display piece this will make for your country store or grocery products collection!
The solid wood piece measures 17.25 long, 8.25 wide and about 3/8 inches thick and was actually a side board from the crate. A coat of varnish will bring out the colors of the label, with authentic nail holes and wood grain adding to the beauty. It’s in Very Good condition, although there are a few soiled areas and a couple of cracks at the edges. Make yourself a great conversation piece for your display. You won’t find many of these for sale anymore!
