This is a magnificent Royal Vienna portrait plate that is artist signed C. Foster. It dates c. 1890s and has the underglaze blue shield (beehive) mark. It measures almost 10".
The portrait is beautifully painted and is of a lovely young lady with long dark hair and a wistful expression on her face. She has a lovely coral/pink gown and is wearing a gold coin necklace and matching earrings. The cobalt border is very well decorated with raised gold and "pearl" jeweling. Excellent condition.
