Circa: 1900-40's Condition: Good++ Manufacturer: WESTERN TIN & JAPAN MFG. CO. CIN'TI O
This is a very nice WWI or WWII era tin ladle marked in raised lettering on the side of the ladle "U.S.Q.M.C. WESTERN TIN & JAPAN MFG. CO. CIN'TI O. 55". The word Japan refers to the paint like process that was applied to the metal at the factory. Japanning as it is called is a more durable process than paint, and was an applied process that was often used on many metal products from the mid-1800's to the 1960's. This ladle was made specifically for military use and is very heavy duty, very well made, and in nice clean condition with no damage all good rivets and joint seals. The handle measures 7.5" long and the ladle pan is 6.7" diameter at the top, and 4" deep. Some of the green japanning is intact on the inside, much less intact on the outside of the ladle. So overall the Japanning is about 45% intact. Overall condition is good++.
