Manufacturer: Vintage Cookie Cutters
This is an antique or vintage tin cookie cutter with a red wood handle likely from the 1920s or 1930s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is in the shape of a heart. It measures about 2 3/8 inches wide, 2 3/8 inches long and sits about 1 1/2 inches in height to the pointed tip of the wood handle. To support that this is a tin piece, not an aluminum one, a magnet does stick to this cookie cutter (magnets won't stick to aluminum).
While the handle is fully attached to the old cookie cutter, will not come loose and sits upright when seated on a table, it is not absolutely tight, having a bit of "play room". If you shake the cookie cutter holding the handle, the base aluminum portion wobbles or shakes a little bit. The outer edges of the cutter are vertically ridged or have a tight scalloping.
We've provided 6 images, some shot with the camera lighting and some without. The camera light can make it easier to see some of the detail, but given the overall tarnishing to this piece, it changes the light/coloring. You can see more of the tarnishing to the tin in the images without the camera light, but they look yellower in appearance. Please know that this cookie cutter is much darker in appearance in person due to the dark tarnishing, than we can show in the images. If you look across all the images, you should get a good overall idea of this piece. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.
This old cookie cutter came out of a home and was likely used, but is in great shape for its age. We do not see any dents, curves, or changes to the shape of the tin heart, with the top surface still nice and flat. As stated above, the tin is all-over tarnished with a dark, spotted tarnishing. We see a few topside and underside rust spots but not bad, and likely the tin has some scratches/other use wear, but none is jumping out as that is likely hidden by the tarnish. The red wood handle is in terrific shape, with no chips, cracks or major wear spots. There are some dark dot/dirt/wear spots, mainly at/near the point tip and a bit on the sides, but not bad at all. Just the wonderful old, used look that supports the age.
A neat cookie cutter to complete your set of playing card symbol cookie cutters, or just a nice addition to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with red wood handles. With the holes in the tin top, a crafty person could also string wire and hang this as an ornament on a Christmas tree as a fun addition.
Please note that we have other cookie cutters and many other kitchen items listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you). |
