50 magic lantern glass slides together with a letter from Olga Samaroff Stokowski indicating glass slides are available for sale relating to "The Layman's Music Course" which she had outstanding success with.
The majority of the magic lantern glass slides are music themed. One slide depicts one of the last photographic images of Maurice Ravel. Another slide depicts Johannes Brahms. One slide depicts an image of German opera singer Lotte Lehmann in one of her greatest roles as the Marschallin in "Der Rosenkavalier". In one slide is a depiction of an orchestra. One slide depicts Alexander Kipness as the Baron Ochs in "Der Rosenkavalier". While the majority of the slides are music related, several images depict buildings and an airplane.
Each slide measures approximately 4" x 3.25".
At the bottom of the interior of the box of slides is a piece of newspaper with the date 'Aug. 29, 1941'.
With the exception of the magic lantern slide depicting Alexander Kipness as Baron Ochs which has some white discoloration on the reverse side, the slides are all in fine to excellent condition. There are no cracks to any of the glass slides.
The letter by Olga Stokowski is in excellent condition with typical fold creases.
