Circa: 1920's-40's Condition: Good++ Manufacturer: E.C. Simmons Keen Kutter
This is a very good, hard to find, small size, E.C. SIMMONS wide blade draw knife, marked "KK 6" inside the Keen Kutter logo with an uneven strike, found on the cast steel cross beam. E.C. Simmons/Keen Kutter was a well known edge tool dealer/distributor and in some cases tool maker with main corporate office in St. Louis MO.
The 6" long cutting edge is sharp and ready to use. We do note some minor pitting in the steel but very little/light pitting near the cutting edge, none enough to effect the intended use of this tool. But you may want to hone it further for your application. Both handles are solid and well attached not cracked, both match in shape and size to one another, both have a very dark stain finish and both have the dome shaped end cap, both snug, not loose. The shape of the blade is a mild curve, or a minimal hollow form.
A rare early draw knife, in good usable condition! |
