	MINIATURES FURNITURE & SILVER: VICTORIAN MINIATURE DESK/CABINET WATCH STAND Antique Victorian miniature wood furniture in the form of a desk or cabinet that actually serves as a watch stand. Made 19th century. Comes from the estate of the late Beverly Sills, famous opera singer and society beneficiary.Measures 8 inches accross and 6 inches to the top of the arch. Miniature wooden chest or desk. Beautifully constructed with rounded and stepped edges and inlaid wood with wonderful veneer patterning. A hook for hanging a fob watch above an inset circle. The left side is a cupboard, the right a pair of drawers. Wood inlay designed so that they look identical from the outside. However, the left side swings open on hinges and closes with a little latch. If you look very carefully on the inside (where your knee would go were you to sit at the piece), there is a tiny hole. The right side drawers are constructed in typical Victorian style, with dovetailed joints. Great veneer to the wood. Good condition.The watch shown in one of the 'photos was found inside the drawer of another item from the Beverly Sills estate. It is not included with this item, but it is available for sale.    $750.00
	MINIATURES FURNITURE & SILVER: ANTIQUE WOOD FURNITURE MINIATURE DESK / CHEST Antique wooden miniature chest / desk. Made well over 100 years ago, but exact date not known. 11.5 inches long; 8 inches tall; 5.5 inches front to back. May have been a salesman's sample and may have been a child's toy. Would make a wonderful jewellery box today. Beautifully constructed a long time ago.Long, deep drawfront divided into two compartments, at the bottom, right accross the front. Above it is a much narrower/shallower drawer with no division. A desk / writing surface above that and recessed behind is a set of 6 smaller draws, all but one divided into two sections. The draw pulls are made of natural material, we are not sure exactly what, and some have a little bite missing here and there (as shown in 'photos). The draws are beautifully constructed with fine dovetails. Due to age, the wood has separated and someone, apparrently a long time ago, has filled in some of the gaps - see 'photos. There is one little chunk of missing wood - seems to have fallen away due to age, not damage. The rest is in good shape, with plenty of signs of age and use - certainly not pristine.     $600.00

Consists of a brass box, fitted with 3 rectangular boxes for holding writing paraphenalia, an octogonal box, that may be an 'extra' and not originally part of the set and a stamp box, with compartments for two piles of stamps and a bear holding a punt or rowing. The main box is 8 X 4 5/8inches. It consists of scrolling openwork. There is a wooden shelf on two old wooden blocks inside, providing space to store documents etc.Above the shelf are 3 hand hammered, hand engraved rectangular boxes. Design is very much in the Aesthetic taste. They have large loops to house the hinges, the sticks of which are missing. The octogonal box has a different hand hammered and engraved design and is therefore perhaps not part of the original set.The small stamp box features a beautifully modelled bear as the handle. Great detail to fur and face. Here, the hinges are in good condition.Generally very good condition besides the minor bits missing from the hinges (replaceable even with a small stick/match).     $450.00

Scalloped foliate edge is echoed by the larger scalloped, inverse scrolling edge of the bronze engraved lid. The top of the lid/cap has the modelled head of Queen Elizabeth I in high relief, in coppery coloured metal.Large Tudor ruffled collar, high forehead over oval face and flowing locks. 	DESK ARTICLES: BRONZE BLACKAMOOR BUST INKWELL VIENNA 19C Bronze inkwell blackamoor bust of a Moorish woman. 19th century, possibly Vienna or French.5 3/8inches high. Base is 4 3/4inches in diameter. Weighs over 3 1/2 lbs.Round base. Woman'w head, luscious curls pulled back and tied with a gilded band. An actual net was placed in the carved furrows of her hair, part of it in metal and part of it in red string. Tiny turquoise beads and pearls hang from her ears. The inserted eyes are glass, one of which needs a bit of straightening. Soft gilt highlights and scarf. The headband is the rim of the inkwell's hinged lid.Outstanding modelling on this figure - From the high cheekbones to open, sensuous lips, pattern and fold of scarf and strong chin. There is a crack under the base of the bust (totally hidden) and some of the hair net is missing.    $1500.00
	DESK ARTICLES: ART NOUVEAU GILT & CUT CRYSTAL DOUBLE INKWELL Art Nouveau gilt and cut crystal double inkwell with pen holder. French, 19th century.Measures 5 3/4inches accross. 3 1/2inches front to back.Finest French cut crystal with gilt metal mounts. This piece has to be examined from every angle and side to appreciate the tremendous workmanship. the shape is oval with a round front. Underneath is beautifully, beautifully cut crystal. Top corner of glass is canted. Around the front is a border of gold acorns and oak leaves. At the back this extends all the way up the side and turns over to the top of the crystal in the form of swags, flowers and foliage in exquisite detail. The inkwells are similarly decorated with acorn and oak openwork on the bottom. The metal caps have applied gold Art Nouveau figures of maidens in diaphenous robes, dancing. Superb.Condition is great. One metal cap has the most negligible of dings, scarcely a shadow and mentioned only for the sake of accuracy. Hinges are firm, glass is utterly MINT.    $1400.00
	DESK ARTICLES: BRONZE MIXED METAL INKWELL NOUVEAU w FISH DRA Antique Art Nouveau era inkwell and tray made of different forms of bronze metal and sculpted with a dragonfly and a goldfish in a swirling pond amidst waterlilies and water foliage. Made late 19th century and is either Japanese or French done in the Japanese style. Generally round form approx 7 inches accross and a little over 3 1/2 inches high. The inkwell sits inside a hinged water lily, it's stem and buds arching and twining around a a swirling eddy, bordered by foliage and waterplant life. Amidst the bowl / tray, as though popping out of the water, is a beautifully detailed deep copper coloured goldfish and buzzing above it, a small dragonfly. It would be typical of Japanese superior workmanship and quality to have a semi-hidden insect. Condition is generally very good except for a chip in the glass insert of the inkwell.    $750.00
	DESK ARTICLES: ANTIQUE ORMOLU GLASS VANITY STAND CANDLESTICK Antique French vanity or dressing stand - opalescent art glass jewelry or trinket dish in a gilt bronze ormolu mount with candlesticks on either side. Made circa 1890 with strong Art Nouveau insect amidst foliage theme. Diameter of bowl is almost 5 inches. Total height is 8inches.Opalescent glass bowl - Great quality French Art Glass. Glass like Sabino / Lalique, but much earlier. Bowl covered in moulded cherries and vineleaves, covered in spiderweb-like branching veins. Stands on 3 tripod legs. Bowl is mounted in gilt metal with an oval mirror in a marvellously scrolling gilt design with attached vine leaves, candle holders, twisted ropes and a dragonfly on the top. The fine detail is incredible: from the minute engraved and moulded details of the leaves, to the pierced openwork gauze of the dragonfly wings. Very delicate, ornate, Nouveau design. Condition is very good.    $600.00
	DESK ARTICLES: PORCELAIN FIGURAL INKWELL HAREM BEAUTY LADY C Antique porcelain figural inkwell / inkpot with 3 harem lady beauties. Made in Bohemia, early 1800's (first half of the 19th century). Total width is approx 6 3/4 inches. Approx height is 5 1/4 inches. Naturalistically modelled base, painted in greens, ochres and browns. A central figure dreams in repose, with two attendants or girlfriends at her side. All wear scarves on their heads and very rich jewellery, both modelled and gilded. Necklaces look as though they could be lifted off the figures. The clothing is sumptuous and painted in wonderful shades of pinks, lilac and blue-greens, with tiny, delicate patterns in colour and gilding as well as raised 'jewels' in immitation of lacy fabric and tassles. Fascinating delicate shoes with little gold jewels/buckles on their feet. Beautiful facial features - see great detail to rosy cheeks, eyebrows and mouths. Handpainted 4.42 on the inside of the base. Sand and inkpot contained inside the base are horribly restored but intact. All other parts are in good condition with no chips/cracks/restoration that we could find except for minor gilt loss as shown in the 'photos.     $450.00
	DESK ARTICLES: BRASS OPENWORK DRESSER SET TRAY FRAME BOX Vintage dresser / vanity set, probably Eastern European in origin and dating to the 1940-60's. Consists of openwork gilded brass, glass and 'pearl' mirrored tray, picture frame and jewelry / trinket box. Measurements: tray 7 3/4inches long and 5 1/2inches wide. Frame 5 1/4inches high including decoration on top and 4 1/2inches wide including extra decoration. Box is 2 1/8inches high and 2 1/2inches diam excluding extentions for opening and hinges. Superb brass openwork on all 3 pieces. The mirror is surrounded by a curving gallery of swags of flowers and leaves. ON either side are handles in the form of ornate bows. the frame is ornately engraved and chased. Around the top is has a complex arrangement of flowers, each inset with an artificial pearl, one of which is damaged (upon close inspection). The frame has a velvet backing and can stand alone. The little box has a bevelled glass lid and stands on 3 bun feet. It has magnificent floral and scrolling openwork on the sides and an elaborate gilded thumb piece. Even the little clasps that hold down the glass are very pretty. Condition of all three pieces is excellent with the exception of the one damaged pearl.    $350.00
	DESK ARTICLES: LISTED ART POTTERY DECO BOOKENDS LEOPARD BULL Artist signed Art Pottery, Art Deco handpainted ceramic tile set in wood bookends. Made by Jean Nison early 20th century. Total height is approx 7inches and width is approx 5 1/4 inches. Tiles are 6X4 1/4inches.A pair of turquoise tiles, each handpainted with an animal - one a leopard and one a bull. Classic Art Deco design, with two strong animals shown with great elegance and movement, almost mythical qualities. Both are reminiscent of Ancient Chinese art work, both in fluidity of design, sense of movement and the ability to convey real more than immediately meets the eye. Powerful contrast of the bright yellow against the blue/turquoise. Subtle hues and shading of the animals. Each tiles is signed by the artist, renowned ceramicist, Jean Nison. Condition is good. No chips/cracks/damage. There is typical crazing, which one would expect, but no damage/restorations.    $300.00
	DESK ARTICLES: 1800 HP PAPERWEIGHT / OPEN SALT BATHERS SWIM Victorian Porcelain open salt / paperweight from the 19th century with handpainted seaside beach scene, including a couple in Victorian swimming suites. Probably English.Measures 3 3/4inches long; 2 1/2inches wide and slightly over 1inch high.Rectangular with rounded corners and scalloped sides. Burnt orange and white.A couple run towards the sea, kicking up the sand as they dash along. Both are wearing shoes and stockings, he has a monocle in one eye and a huge handlebar moustache; she wears skirts and a bonnet. Behind them are a number of beach tents, people, some ladies in more conservative Victorian dress and all the atmosphere of a happy seaside resort. There are no marks. Condition is very good. Originally, we thought it was a paperweight, but since then, we discovered this shape was used for open salts.     $275.00
	DESK ARTICLES: ANTIQUE FRENCH GILT BRONZE BLACKAMOOR DESKSET From a Georgia plantation: Extraordinary Charles X signed antique gilt bronze ( ormolu ) inkstand / deskset with blackamoors. Made by the Leblanc factory in 1827 in Paris, France. Measurements:12 inches accross the sides; 5 1/2 inches to top of heads. The set to hold all of your writing equipment in the early 19th century: Shaped base in ridges. The bottom has original wooden base with old felt lining.A pair of lidded urns on either side of a removable deeply cut glass inkwell with gilt bronze fitted lid. In front is a scalloped tray for holding various implements. Behind the inkwell is an openwork half wheel, flanked on either side by a spectacular pair of blackamoors, traditionally standing on a pair of pedestals. Each blackamoor, naked from the waist up, is holding a book in his outstretched arms. Feathered quill would lie accross the arms. Facial features and hair are superb. Original modelling and casting are of the best French quality. According to sources, the Leblanc foundry/factory existed for exactly one year, 1827, in Paris before being burned down.The wooden board under the stand has an embossed LEBLANC as well as inked information. The arms that support the urns on either side have embossed LEBLANC (remove urns and scrolls to find them). Condition of the whole set is very good or excellent considering the age of the piece.    $4000.00
