Mahogany Fireplace Mantel with Mirror
Majestic two part mahogany late Victorian fireplace mantel with mirror. The top has an intricately carved mask in the middle and two lion heads on either side. Something likely sat on top of the lion heads originally. The beveled mirror is surrounded by a fancy carved molding. The base features two full figured standing winged griffins. There is a curved carved portion above the mantel opening. There is a sausage carved molding around the fire place opening. Wonderful quartered oak swinging saloon door
Are you building or restoring a home? This is the piece youshould try to fit in. A wonderful quartered oak swinging saloon door with around beveled mirror in the center. There are carvings around the mirrorand panels on the top and bottom. The back is similarly paneled. Theswinging original hinges allow the door to swing both ways and are in goodworking order. We don't have the receiving hardware for the door but itcould be easily attached to the area you want it to go. In all the years wehave been in business we have had only one other saloon door. Fabulous solid mahogany two part mantle
Fabulous quality solid mahogany two part mantel made by Irvingand Casson, Boston in 1896 (the original label is on the back). It wascustom made for Joseph Osfield Jr of Pawtucket, RI. The base portion has adouble reeded column on each side with carved capitals. Above the fireplaceis a beautifully carved section with intricately carved classical figures oneach side and an urn with cornucopias in the middle. Fancy moldings areincorporated into the design. The fireplace opening measures 48"wide x39.5"high. The back of the sides have small cut outs for a floor molding.The top mirror can set directly on the mantel as shown in the photo, or behung above it. It has fluting on the sides and a top portion with fivecarved heads with wings and a carved molding. Fine quality Victorian cherry mantel
Fine quality Victorian cherry mantel. There is a dentalmolding beneath the top and lovely carved panels beneath that. Two spiralcolumns decorate each side of the opening. There is some loss to themoldings on the inside of the opening but these could be easily taken outall together to make the opening slightly larger. There is a flat board onthe outside of each side which could also be reduced according to thedimensions that you require. The opening for the firebox as shown is 30"H x29.5"W. The mantel original had a top portion (probably a mirror).
