Faux Bamboo Vanity with Mirror
Lovely birdseye maple faux bamboo Victorian vanity. The original beveled mirror has an elaborate supporting structure with bamboo turnings and circles in the base and the returns. There are two drawers on top over a longer drawer - each with original wooden pulls. There is a slight stain on the surface. The legs and cross stretchers are all made of faux bamboo. Notice how the side panels, mirror frame, and drawer fronts are all decorated with quarter round bamboo turnings. Most of such pieces were made by R.J. Horner, NYC but there is no label on this one. Faux Bamboo Vanity with Chair
Rare form Victorian faux bamboo birdseye maple vanity andchair. The mirror has a spindled top with an unusual lattice work middleand four round finials. It has an original beveled mirror. The sides ofthe mirror are extensively decorated and feature a quarter round shelf.The base has a long drawer and two smaller ones underneath with original barpulls. The drawers, mirror and panels are all bordered by a quarter roundfaux bamboo turning. The chair has an upholstered seat (old fabric). Thereis a slight stain on the right side of the top surface. Fabulous quality four piece late Victorian . The bed is full QUEEN (60") width and just 1/2" shy of being queen length (There are several easy options to make it queen length and we will be happy to go over them with you). We have included many detailed photos of the various pieces. Especially notice the fully carved birds on the headboard, footboard, and dresser mirror. They are done in such exquisite three dimensional detail! The suite has extensive carvings, turnings, carved mouldings, and the original cast brass hardware. Figured raised panels decorate the drawer fronts, surfaces of the bed, and the sides of the case pieces. The low and tall chests each have a beveled mirror on top. A top portion once sat on the top of the commode. The dresser is very unusual in that there are beveled mirrors in the very bottom back behind the carved columns. The entire mirror AND back of the chest can be removed for moving. Both the commode and dresser have original heavy brownish red marbles with a highly polished surface. The dresser marble was professionally repaired. Fantastic oak sideboard & china cabinet
Fantastic solid quartered oak matching sideboard and china cabinet. Each piece has an arched hooded top with a deeply carved top crest and panels on the underside of the hood. This portion is held up by full figured winged griffins and a rectangular beveled mirror with carvings on the top and each corner is behind (some of the old silvering on the backs of the mirrors have worn off). The sideboard has paneled sides and rounded corners. There are four drawers and four doors in the front each with exceptional carvings and ornate wooden pulls. The china closet has three glass shelves (one replaced), mirrored back, a bowed glass front and serpentine shaped glass sides. Each piece has an ornate carving on the bottom center and carved claw feet. There is a slight seam split in the bottom of the china closet. Most dealers attribute this style to RJ Horner but this fine suite is signed by Grand Rapids, another of the premier furniture makers of the period. Three Piece Faux Bamboo Bed Suite
Lovely Victorian faux bamboo birds eye maple bedroom suiteattributed to R. J. Horner, NYC. The suite consists of a bed that isbetween full and queen size (57"W x 78"L between the rails), a dresser withmirror, and side cabinet. The bed has four horizontal posts on each end withtwo large ones in the headboard. There are open spindles in the footboardand headboard as well as the top of the dresser mirror and back of thecabinet. Notice the carved beehive finials on the tops of the posts. Thereare raised panels in the bed. All the panels and flat details on all threepieces are framed by a decorative faux bamboo molding. The cabinet anddresser have matching bar pulls. The beveled mirror on the dresser has somesilver loss. There is a brown stain in the top of the dresser and somenormal staining on the top of the cabinet. The smaller piece has a drawerand a cupboard base. There are interior divisions in the drawer (seephoto). This entire suite - even the interior of the cupboard (see photo)has gorgeous, vibrant, birds eye maple grain. R. J. Horner made the Americanfaux bamboo furniture and his concern with quality is exemplified in thesethree pieces. Two Piece Carved Mahogany Bed Suite
Handsome late Victorian two piece mahogany bedroom suite. Itconsists of a larger than full size bed (58"W x 77"L between the rails) anda dresser with an original reddish brown Tennessee marble. Both pieces havea deeply carved crest featuring oak leaves, acorns, and berries. Richlycarved curved moldings are above and below this band of carving. Floral andleaf carvings and rope twist columns adorn the bed and mirror frame. Thedresser has a beveled bulls eye round mirror which is attractively echoed inan inset round figured mahogany panel in the bed. The siderails on the bedhave tall returns at each end with turnings, raised panels, and carvings.The bed has the original fancy double castors that elevates it just off thefloor. The dresser has an unusual base arrangement with three drawers overtwo center drawers and a cupboard on either side. The original cast brasshardware is especially nice with a face in the middle. The two top sidedrawers have the original velvet liners (some staining to the fabric). Thetwist columns, various carved motifs, round mirror/panel design, fabuloushardware, deep carved moldings, and marble are all signs of the superbquality and craftsmanship of this suite. Sensational Two Piece Aesthetic Victorian Chestnut and Walnut Bedroom Suite. The Dresser has the Most Lovely Original Oynx Tops and a Mirror Step Down Center. (Note: Onyx's have been Repaired) The Bevelled Mirror is Framed by Half Round Burled Chestnut. The Base Drawers are all Burl Faced and have the Original Brass Hardware. The Center Door has Carving in the Middle Above the Oynx on Both Sides and Carved Columns Support Two Shelves. Carved Panels are just Behind these Shelves. Both the Dresser and Bed Feature Full Burled Columns on the Sides. They also have Very Intricately Carved Matching Crest Structures with Walnut and Chestnut Mixing to Form a Rich Contrast. Even the Bedrails are Carved with Returns at Both Ends. The Top of the Footboard is Slightly Bowed From Front to Back and has a Nice Burled Grain. We find this Suite Very Exotic and Intriguing.
