Note the magenta collar and lock, and the nice black patches. This lovely dog dates to the 1850 period. It has survived well - free of chips cracks, hairlines, stains, and restorations.

STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURES AND FIGURINES: Staffordshire figures Large Nineteenth Century Staffordshire Hen on Nest Here is a beautiful Staffordshire hen on nest in excellent condition. It dates to the mid 19th century.The lid is bisque with a hand-painted face on the chicken which is vibrant and undamaged. Along th edge the grass is painted in green with a bit of brown. She's a prolific layer - six eggs peek out from beneath her feathers, 4 in the front, and 2 in the back.The base has a basketweave pattern and is glazed. It is hand-painted in yellow-brown.It measures 8 inches long from the tail to the front and stands just shy of 7 inches tall.Condition is excellent - paint shows no wear, and there are no chips, cracks, hairlines, or restoration.

STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURES AND FIGURINES: Staffordshire Large Portrait Figure, The Lion Slayer This is a very large Staffordshire figure, 17" tall, of Roualeyn George Gordon-Cummings. The model is attributed to Sampson Smith who made it during the 1850s. Condition is excellent. Gordon-Cummings (1820 - 1866) was a big-game hunter. The figure shows him poised over his prey.

STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURES AND FIGURINES: Staffordshire Arbor Figure, COUPLE Here is a large arbor figure, 13 inches tall. It features a young man and woman, possible the royal children. We would date this figure to the 1870 - 1890 period. The lady's and man's skin tones are shown in pale color. Hair and shoes are dark brown. The facial features are also painted, and there are overglaze gold embellishments. This beautiful figure has no chips, cracks, or hairlines. There is some crazing and a bit of wear to the overglaze gold.
