Staffordshire Mulberry Cup Plate, Chinoiserie Design

Offered is an early mulberry cup plate, 4 inches wide. It is marked only with the imprinted word Ironstone and dates to the 1840s or 1850s. It is in fine condition, bearing one potting point on the rim which held it in place in the kiln for firing - not damage. The flow is medium, and the color is black.

Blue & White transfer decorated soup tureen and original ladle. Gorgeous and hard to find with ladle without chips or cracks. Approx 9"H, 14"W,9"Deep. Ladle 10" long with some minor crazing on ladle. Signed on inside of lid in blue [Stoke on Trent- Staffordshire England. Dianthus] Small blue mark on bottom. Impressed R[?]2585621 in rectangle box. Also impressed 85 in another area. Wood & Brownfield Flow Blue Large Plate, MADRAS

This large and heavy ironstone plate measures 10 1/2 inches wide. The Oriental pattern is entitled Madras. It is a desing of pagodas across the river from three figures in conversation on the bank. It is a 12 sided plate in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines stains, and restorations. It was made in the pottery of Wood &Brownfield which operated from 1838 to 1850.

Furnival Staffordshire Flow Blue Soup Plate, Shanghae

Here is a flat rimmed soup plate in the Shanghae pattern. It measures 9 inches wide by 1 1/2 deep. Condition is excellent - no flaws.It was made in the Furnival pottery and bears a backstamp with pattern name, pottery name, and imprinted mark. This bowl dates to the latter part of the 19th Century. The chinoiserie design is skillfully applied - quite pretty.

Staffordshire Mulberry Transferware Plate, PELEW

Here we present a mulberry, also known as flow black, plate measuring 10 inches wide. It is a fourteen-sided ironstone plate that was made in the pottery of E. Challinor. It dates to the 1850's.The Pelew pattern is a chinoiserie design of Asian buildings, willow-type foliage, and an arched bridge. Foliates and florals decorate the paneled surround.It is in fine condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, and restorations.

Staffordshire Elegant Pearlware Platter, TENDRIL

Presented is an early pearlware blue transfer platter with a classic floral and vine pattern. This design was made in many potteries with slight variations in stylized florals and curling vines. We believe this one was made in the Benjamin Adams pottery and that the design was called Tendril. The platter is slightly scalloped and measures 17 inches wide by 11 1/2 inches tall. It is in fine condition with one short glaze rub on the rim and one small and shallow flake on the back of the rim which does not show from the front.

Ridgway Flow Blue Large Plate, DELAWARE

This large dinner plate, 10 3/4 inches wide, is bordered on the surround and 14 sided. The pattern is Delaware, a romantic design of tall elms framing a mountainous river scene. Needless to say, the Staffordshire potters who decided on the appellation had not visited. It certainly is a beautiful state, but no mountains can be found.It is a heavy ironstone plate with only slight flow to the pattern. condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restorations.It was made in the Ridgway pottery and bears the English registry mark dating it to 1847.

BWM & Co. Flow Blue Plate, BYZANTIUM

Presented is an 8 inch flow blue plate in the Byzantium pattern. It was made in the pottery of Brown, Westhead, Moore, & Co., which operated from 1862 - 1904. It bears the pottery's crown and garter backstamp with pottery initials.Condition is excellent - no chips or cracks. The blue is quite dark against stark white.The design features a tented encampment on the outskirts of a Middle Eastern City. Camels graze to the left as three people recline outdoors on a carpet. The surround has a cable design on linear patterning.
