Printed in dark blue, the pattern of this pearlware custard cup is known as the Etruscan pattern. The comma shape is quite unusual. AESTHETIC TRANSFERWARE BROWN PLATTER ANGLAIS
This 15-3/4" by 12-3/4" platter was made in Staffordshire around 1880. The rich brown transfer is my favorite color used for Aesthetic Movement transferware. The pattern name is "Anglais". Each size in the series depicts different English scenes in post card like reserves surrounded by the natural world. Butterflies, flowers and a spider in her web make a delightful border around Warwick Castle and Guy's Cliff. Condition is excellent.

This blue transferware jug is in an unusual pattern that vaguely resembles weaving but also resembles Japanese lanterns! The overall effect is something like a pattern from the 1950s. However, the jug was made in Staffordshire around 1840! The printing is beautifully done in shades of blue that range from light to dark. Condition is excellent. The transferware tiles are much more difficult to come by than the plates and platters, etc. This is an excellent example of an English blue & white aesthetic transferware tile. An elegant 11" pearlware coffee pot with the popular milkmaid pattern that was made in Staffordshire around 1825. If you like cows and rural scenes, you will like this piece! It is beautifully printed with three transfers on the body--one large milkmaid transfer, one smaller milkmaid transfer and the floral border. There are other small and sweet transfers of calves and lambs on the spout. Other than a repair to the tip of the spout and perhaps to the tip of the finial(I'm not sure), condition is excellent.

This jug is 10-1/4" to the top of the handle and 9-1/4" to the top of the spout. It is printed in dark brown with a fruit and flower border both inside and outside. This unusual item is nearly 7" high and has a screw top! It is printed in light to medium blue with a lovely floral pattern. It was used to hold treacle which is a form of molasses. Treacle was cheaper than sugar, and thus a less expensive sweetener. Other than a minor repair to the inside of the lid, condition is excellent. If you like rare items in old blue, this is the one for you! The treacle pot was probably made in Staffordshire around 1840.

Toast Racks are not common in early transferware. This 8" by 4" by 3" high pearlware toast rack is printed in a soft blue with a pattern that combines flowers, leaves and lace. The pattern name is "Dr. Syntax Return'd From His Tour". Condition of the plate is excellent.

Drainers were used to drain the juices from the meat or fish onto the platter. This pearlware drainer is part of the "Vignette" service that I am listing in this catalog. It is 13-1/2" by 9-1/2". The pattern has a horse and her foal surrounded by a gorgeous floral border. The series was made around 1820 in Staffordshire by John Bagster. This 4" pearlware jug has both a rabbit and a squirrel to recommend it. The squirrel is odd looking but very cute. The border is printed upside down which adds to its charm! There is a roughness and small nicks on the spout and two small chips on the base. Other than these defects, condition is excellent. The jug was probably made in Staffordshire around 1830. This is a terrific piece for animal lovers as squirrels are rare on Staffordshire.

This pearlware blue and white transferware sugar bowl has a wonderful print of a stately home with big cows grazing in front of it. Deakin & Sons Oval Blue Transferware Staffordshire Platter, SPANISH BEAUTIES, c. 1833-41
This gorgeous oval blue transferware Staffordshire platter measures 15 1/2 by 12 1/4 inches. The potter is Deakin & Sons whose firm operated from 1833 to 1841. Its pattern features three figures in a formal garden setting with moorish buildings along a river in the background.The surround has scenic areas that alternate with scrolling, diapering, and flowers. A pretty fan shape element appears at four points on the surround.Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairines, stains, or restoration.
