It is the story of Detective Peter Decker who is investigating the brutal murder of Dr. Azor Sparks. The investigation keeps leading back to his family who all had a motive, but especially to to the oldest son, who is a Catholic priest. Complicating things Peter finds the victim is linked to a gang of outlaw bikers. However the most unsettling matter of all is the one that ties the tormented Sparks family to Peter's own which are the secrets shared by a renegade priest and Decker's wife, Rina Lazarus. "Prayers for the Dead" by Faye Kellerman is an enjoyable read.
