LE Smith Glass:
L.E.Smith Hexagon Pattern Muffin Plate
This beautiful pink depression glass muffin plate with applied handles was made by the Smith Glass Company, Mt. Pleasant, PA, which has been crafting, American-pressed glass since 1907, and today, is one of only a handful of American hand-made glass factories remaining. L.E. Smith began producing colored glass in the mid 1920’s. Pink, green, amber, yellow, amethyst and cobalt were being made as early as 1926. But in the late 1920’s, Smith Glass hit upon a formula for black glass that set it apart from other manufacturers of the time. In 2005, Smith Glass was purchased by William Kelman. Through hard work and a commitment to quality, they have withstood the test of time. In very good condition, without chips or cracks, the plate does have some minor scratches from years of use it measures 2 1/2 inches high, 7 1/4 inches long and 5 1/4 inches wide. LE Smith MT Pleasant Black Hand Painted Plate Textured. Flowers are pink roses & a purple flower, with gold & green leaves. Paint has been topped with teenie crystal glass balls. Paint shows some small flake spots. Made 1920s-1934 by L E Smith, in the Mt. Pleasant Pattern. Plate measures 7 1/4 inches x 8 1/4 inches with handles. Glass is shiny with a few very tiny scratches, a couple small glass bubble pops, & customary straw marks. One handle has a teenie stress crack where handle attaches to plate. This is a lovely MT Pleasant Elegant Depression Glassware piece.Inv # 29145
