'Though defined as a representation of the human form to be played with as a toy by a child, the doll is here examined in its widest sense, and includes such items as piano babies, bathing beauties, boudoir dolls, fashion and crèche figures, all of which now fall within the ever-widening ambit of the collector….An attempt is made to give breadth to the survey by the inclusion of related prints and paintings.
