Art Glass:
Bluerina Inverted Thumbprint Glass Pitcher

Victorian Blurina Dot Optic Creamer Pitcher. This is an unusual piece of late 1800's shaded Art Glass, known as Bluerina or Blue Amberina, done in a coloring of Cobalt to Amber. This cream or milk pitcher features a Polka Dot, Coin Dot, Rain Drops, Dots, Moon Drops, or small Inverted Thumbprint like pattern. Pitcher also has a nice reeded or applied ribbed crystal handle and starts out on top with a nice cobalt color, changes to clear and finishes up to amber at the base. Polished Pontil on the bottom. We have not been able to identify the mfg, but companies like Boston and Sandwich Glass, New England Glass Co., Fenton, Pilgrim Glass, Thomas Webb, Mount Washington Glass and Hobbs, Brockunier & Co. Glass all made pitchers similiar in style. Pitcher measures 4 1/4 inches tall by 2 1/2 wide at top. Creamer has no seams and appears to be blown glass. Item is in EXCELLENT Condition with no chips, nicks or scratches. A great item to add to your collection!

Art Glass:
OPALESCENT GLASS WATER BOTTLE~ SAUCER~1880'S

Gorgeous French Opalescent bedside water bottle with matching underplate. The bottle is blown with a semi-polished pontil. The opalescent ribbing comes to a scallop about 3/4 the way up the bottle. The top then moves into a semi-swirl pattern. The underplate is also blown, ground and polished . The rim has been ground into a scallop to give a prettier look to the finished edge. The opalescent stripes on the plate radiate out from the center in a sunburst effect. Although Fenton made opalescent water bottles, this is not one of their patterns. This is Victorian glass, unfortunately not marked. There are a couple of rough spots on the rim of the plate, but nothing else. We don't believe it had a tumbler as there are no wear marks on the bottle where a tumbler would have rested. It displays beautifully and it's color moves from blue to lavender depending on the light.

Art Glass:
Scandinavian Style Art Glass 9in Bowl Sky Blue 6 points

Scandinavian Style Art Glass 9in Bowl Sky Blue 6 pointsBeautifully flared to six points - vertical ribs - slightly stippled underside base. This is an unusual bowl and I have not been able to determine the maker. My first thoughts were American Art Glass makers like Blenko, Viking, Pilgrim, Fenton. Then I looked at Italian and Scandinavian and have found nothing like it. Maybe you know the maker - we would love to know. The transparent glass is ice or sky blue.Bowl measures 6 inches to tip of points or about 7 inches high to lower portions of rim. It is approx 10 1/2 inches diameter across at points or about 7 1/2 inches diameter at lower edges.NO chips - cracks = stains. Scratches - if any, are minuscule - I have noticed none.It would be a lovely centerpiece bowl for pastel or white flowers and super addition to an Art Glassware collection

Art Glass - General:
Scarce Book 18th & 19th Century Art Glass Epergnes

The stunning color and black-and-white photography, in-depth captions, and rich narrative combine to make this beautiful book a landmark publication on art glass epergnes. THE ELEGANT EPERGNE: FROM THE BUNNY AND CHARLES KOPPELMAN COLLECTION with essays by Jane Shadel Spillman, Harry N. Abrams, Inc., Publishers, NY, 1995. 'The dramatic tiered centerpieces of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries are coming back into favor. Today, the term epergne designates both the tiered, ornate silver and glass centerpieces of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and the glass flower and fruit stands so in favor during the nineteenth… [This book] features more than 80 of these glorious objects, all specially photographed for this book, in settings both sumptuous and relaxed. Many are also shown in close-up views. Room interiors in "The Elegant Epergne" suggest a number of ideas for decorating with these versatile containers—on a mantle, beside the tub, or even in a child’s nursery, where they may be filled with the smallest, sweetest bouquets. Because they can be used to dress a table, ornament a shelf, or display flowers, epergnes make handsome additions to any home. Particular emphasis is given to the many kinds of flowers suitable for epergnes, including roses, sweet peas, lisianthus, poppies, ranunculus, and dahlias, most of which can be grown or found for sale in cities large and small. Many of the epergnes shown here were made in England around the turn of the century; also included are some later American pieces from the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company as well as those produced by Steuben and Fenton. Each piece is described in full detail, including maker and technical workmanship. A nearly encyclopedic range of epergnes is offered; the more typical clear or cranberry glass; Burmese peach-blow; richly hued glass, some with unusual shading around the fluted rims; silver bases or ones fitted with beveled mirrors; hanging baskets, including some in the shape of flowers; and gilt metal and silver fittings. For budding collectors, epergnes are found not only in the auction houses and dealers' shops, but in the flea markets as well.' This book will as easily decorate the coffee table as enhance the reference library; it will provide a pictorial journey through the world of little-known epergnes to delight collectors, interior decorators and art glass enthusiasts. Oversize / heavy 10.75 in. x 12.75 in. hardback with dust cover in new condition. pages.Buyer pays $5.00 for shipping and handling. If multiple books are purchased for a single shipment, add $2.00 for each additional book. Rates vary for shipments outside the contiguous 48 states and for international mailings. ©2003
