Oil or Kerosene: Brass and Glass Hand Painted Hanging Light Vintage Hand Painted Hangingl Lamp - Daisies - Signed Here is the perfect hanging lamp for welcoming spring. This lovely hand painted old shade measures 14 inches in diameter and has the artist's name hidden amidst a field of daisies. This wonderful spring bouquet of fresh cut flowers is highlighted beautifully by an old Fenton opalescent white hobnail font that seems able to absorb the subtle earth-tones of the shade. Of course then we have this gorgeous brass hanging frame. This unit has extra long chains so you can adjust its height to suit just about any room or situation. A B&P brass burner and a tall, slender chimney make up the rest of the units pieces. The artist who gave us this lovely shade signed it as well with the name Ruby. There are a few paint rubs around the top opening of the shade, but the shade crown covers those and even if it did not, the marks are not very troubling at all, when compared to the all the great things this old oil lamp has going for it. The maker is unknown but these shades show the quality of the masters such as Richardson, Webb, Fenton. They have a ribbed swirl pattern and are light blue with white opalescent with ruffled end. The glass measures about 4 inches tall by about 5 1/2 inches wide. The base is 2 1/8 inches wide. The bases are sharp and unfinished. The glass is near mint with no chips or cracks. The hanging fixtures need to be rewired. We are not sure of the metal but a magnet does not stick. They had been painted gold at one time. We are unsure as to the age; they were salvaged from a house that was built around 1900.
