Art Pottery: Roseville
Roseville Blue Cornelian Corn Pitcher

Pottery This blue spongeware pitcher is from an early Roseville line called Cornelian 1. A rarely seen blue color with green and yellow flecks. The pattern is an embossed stalk of corn with the ear partly open. 9" tall and 8" from spout to end of handle. Small chip on spout and a horizontal hairline crack on one side. This crack shows only from the inside. An exciting find that combines the seldom seen corn pattern with a very rare coloration. This one is for the informed collector. The price is low because of the flaws.

AMERICAN ART POTTERY:
AMERICAN ART POTTERY MOTTLED GLAZE JARDINIERE!

This is an offering for a gorgeous jardiniere measuring 7-1/2" high and 8-3/4" wide. The glaze is a brown drip over black spongeware. I haven't seen this lovely piece in any of my books so take your guess from Roseville, Weller, Zanesville, Robinson Ransbottom, etc. The clay is buff in color. There are two glazed over production flaws on the base. Not a hint of use and has no nicks, chips, cracks or repairs. Shipping for this fine addition to your collection is $10.00.

Vintage Blended Glaze Art Pottery Flower Frog

Vintage Soft Matte Green and Brown Blended Glaze Art Pottery Flower Frog. Unmarked--possibly Roseville pottery. This flower frog measures 2 7/8'' in diameter and 1 1/4'' tall. Very good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing--just a little staining on the bottom which should come out. There are a couple of glaze skips and very slight curving on the bottom from manufacture (both very common to old USA pottery). Make this very attractive flower frog a part of your collection.

USA Pottery Deco Style Console Bowl Candle Holders

Pretty soft blue Deco Style Console Bowl and Candle Holder has a clean, flowing, free-form shape. This well-made piece measures 12'' long, 4'' tall and approx. 4'' wide, is unmarked but is glazed on the bottom with visible stilt marks. My first guess as to maker would be Haeger or one of the California potteries. (Weller and Roseville also made similar designs). There is a small glaze flake on one side (see pics), tiny glaze pop and a small area on the bottom where the glaze did not cover. Price has been reduced. This console bowl and candle holder looks attractive by itself or filled with flowers and candle.

AMERICAN ART POTTERY & UNSIGNED PIECES:
ADORABLE EARLY ANTIQUE BABY DISH w LITTLE CHICK n WORM!

I call this little baby dish "Early Bird Gets the Worm". Dating to the early 1900s, probably 1920s or 30s, this nice heavy American Art Pottery feeding bowl measures about 7" in diameter and 1 3/8" tall/ It is old and has been lovingly used, no maker's mark on the bottom. The dish is shaped like the early Roseville juvenile ware pieces that are so rare and sought after, and it is probably about the same age. It's white with a thin blue pinstripe around the lip and a decal of a baby chick in a pastoral setting in the center. The little chicken is looking at the ground at a little worm. Behind the bird are little purple flowers that look like violets. The little bowl or plate has a hairline, as shown in the pictures, on the lip, plus some little nicks around the edge and on the bottom. The bottom of the bowl show scratches where some little tyke certainly enjoyed his or her cereal. Despite this, the decal is still amazingly intact and truly endearing. Sold in AS FOUND condition, this is a warm and lovely collectible antique piece that wouold be great as part of a collection of baby feeding bowls and American Art pottery from the depression era.
