Montgomery Ward Automatic Push Drill w/ 8 Bits Box

This is a very rare automatic push drill model, marked "WARDS MASTER QUALITY" on the nickel plated sleeve of the main body on the drill, and "MONTGOMERY WARD MASTER QUALITY AUTOMATIC PUSH DRILL WITH 8 DRILLS 84-1315" on the box label. This is a spring loaded drill, that spins the drill chuck in a clockwise motion when you push the handle toward the chuck. Greenlee made the screw chuck on this drill to except old Goodell fluted shank drill bits with the 4 flutes or parallel notches on each shank to go in the chuck, then at the other end, a 2 fluted wood cutting point. The full set of 8 drill different size bits (points) to fit in the chuck comes with the drill, and they are stored in the handle. All 8 points are different sizes from 1/16" to 11/64", all are from very good to like new condition. The handle is hollow with 8 spaces to put points and one space to lock the cylinder in place to keep the points from falling out. The handle is hardwood with a medium dark stained finish on it, very nice looking. Everything works as it should, very good mechanical condition. Appearance is about 95% like now with most of the wear on the spiral shaft, some very minor wear on the handle too. Overall a very nice, clean drill. The box is good, solid with a good label. The label has an inventory ink stamp on it, otherwise, in about 95% new condition. There is some wear on the top corners of the box, overall a nice clean original box, for a rare tool! A rare one! Greenlee also made a model similar in appearance to this one, but with the YANKEE brand style chuck instead. A nice design!

mid 1900's

PHILADELPHIA DIVISION OF STANLEY TOOLS" on the red, black and white label on the card type advertising packet. The card is in good condition overall, it is very rare, and to date we have not seen any other North Brothers Div. of Stanley tools with an earlier date then 1947, which has been the official date when the North Brothers ownership was handed over to Stanley. There are 3 new drill bits in the plastic tube that has a metal cap, and all the mentioned items above are in the set as pictured, to fit the smallest Yankee brand chucks, including the ones mentioned on the card and above. Stanley Yankee Screwdriver Ratchet No. 130A

This is a nice, clean 1950's era ratchet spiral screwdriver! It is marked "STANLEY YANKEE NO. 130A MADE IN U.S.A.", on the main nickel plated shaft. This screwdriver is the mid-size that Stanley made in regards to tooling, or the tips that fit into the chuck, they are the .280 (9/32") shank diameter size. Stanley bought out North Brothers in the late 1940's, and this tooling for these screwdrivers remained the same for Stanley production, as North Bros.. The chuck holds any of the bits included (2) different slot bits, and (1) No.2 size Phillips type screwdriver tip. There is a little wear on the screwdriver nickel plating, about 75% intact, with about 85% of the maroon paint intact on the hardwood handle. In very good mechanical condition. This one has a rapid return spring, on the spiral system, so it springs back after you push it in to drive a screw. A very strong return spring, spiral and ratchet system works great. The bits have very little wear on them, in good useable condition. Screwdriver Solid Brass Handle Machinist Heavy Duty

This is a nice clean old heavy duty screwdriver that measures 13.25" long overall, with a .37" wide tip. The appears to have been design to use in a production set up where a hammer and a screwdriver was require to set the part in place most likely. The brass handle end appears to have been used to tap a metal part, and the screwdriver tip is in very good shape, as well the the main shaft that is straight and clean. The steel ferrule has a tongue and groove link, perhaps one of the most rigid designs I have seen. Winchester had a similar design on the screwdrivers. The handle weights about 2 pounds. A nice machine shop type heavy duty service screwdriver!
