Made by Wheatley Pottery of Cincinnati, OH, ca 1915-1920, this 4 1/8"; square tile has wonderful matte glazes of medium blue, muted yellow, and a mottled brownish gold. The central design is a cross with each corner emphasized by a yellow square. Incised "1096" on the back, this is the design number, and is shown in the Wheatley catalog. Chip to lower left corner.
