Vintage British railroad lantern is tin with original black paint. A door opens on the side of the frame to access the brass burner which holds the fuel and has a single cotton wick. The side panel has the letters BR(E) embossed on the surface. The condition is very good with no chips or cracks in the front glass panel and good paint coverage on the body. The burner has the words vaporite patent 583326. Measures 8 inches to the top of the casing.

The BR(E) stands for British Rail - Eastern Region. All railway (railroad)property, including clocks, chairs,tables, etc., would have borne the BR mark plus the regional letter, E, SE, and so on. |
