Manufacturer: Avery Dennison Clear Advantage
Very interesting item for Baseball and Advertising collectors. It is a sealed empty can soda size with the pictures of Ryne Sandberg in Cubs Uniform and Frank Thomas in his White Sox’s Uniform. According to the side of the can this was produced by a joint venture of Ball Corporation and Avery Dennison using the New Clear Advantage Labeling Technology. The reason we believe that this is rare and possibly be the only one in research we were able to find back in the mid 1990’s Ball Corporation and Avery Dennison joined together to produce a new type of labeling on cans through Avery Dennison Decorating Technologies Division in Framingham, Mass., to introduce a photographic-quality label called Clear Advantage. Then in May of 1996 Clear ADvantage was introduced on Ball beverage cans at the Food Marketing Institute trade show in Chicago. Though it was Ball’s first appearance at the show, the booth – and the eventual NBA champion Chicago Bulls can labels –generated ample interest. So we think that back then several different cans with Chicago sports teams were produced, but the Championship bulls won out. This can does have scratching to it, some dings and a crease. |
