5x3.5" (outer case); 3.25x2.25". Late 19th century gold-plated silver cigarette case, with display case. This lovely piece boasts a gold wash over silver and enamel, with a beautiful machined ribbed herringbone pattern on both sides, in the center, and a floral chain resembling a fleur-de-lit. Baked enamel stripes flank the face. The inner lid of the outer cases reads "Gold Medal Louisiana Purchase Expo" as well as the name 'J. Borbolla.' The cigarette case has a sapphire snap button. Still in the original velvet lined box. An all around rare and exquisite piece. |
