Foster and Bailey sterling and ebony clothing brush, marked F&B, EBONY and Loonen France. F&B is the mark for the 1878-1898 Foster and Bailey company, which was succeeded by Theodore W. Foster & Bros, Providence, RI, from 1898-1951. The ornate Art Nouveau silver design with animal heads at the end of the scrolls would make me place the dating of this item to an earlier, rather than a later, date. An exceptional brush, it measures 7" x 1 1/2". The bristles measure 1 1/8" and are in very good condition.
