Circa: 19th century Condition: Used Size: 15 ¼ inches long Manufacturer: Unsigned Primitive
Here is a hand forged iron ladle most likely from the early 19th century. We can find no marker’s marks on it but the construction is definitely early. It looks like the bowl and handle were hammered separately and then hammered together. All this is done while the metal is hot. No welding, no rivets. The bowl measures 3 inches in diameter and is 1 ½ inches deep and features a pouring spout. The overall length is 15 ¼ inches. The end of the handle is looped around for hanging this ladle on the wall. Hand forged from iron, the condition is solid but has an overall patina of rust pitting. You can envision the frontiersman using this ladle to scoop out a heaping serving of wilderness stew.
