For sale is a pair of antique brass wall sconces. These gorgeous matched sconces are 18.5 long. One has a brass lion, other has a brass shield symbol. The metal is yellow brass and white? brass. (Some of the metal is a Pewter color, but it is not pewter). These may have once been candle holders that were electrified in the 20's. They have remnants of very old cloth cords on the back, and an old paper label that reads: 'National Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Organized Nov. -- LU 1891, #514, Affiliated with American Federation of Labor'. Other part of label reads: 'Trades Council, Detroit, Mich.' (note the old state abbreviation for MI). Research suggests that local #514 no longer exists in Detroit. These sconces have not been cleaned; they have a dark patina on them which I find attractive, (one is a bit darker than the other). Elegant, and would be fabulous hung on each side of an oil painting, or each side of the mantle! You can use them as candle holders or re-wire for electrical use. You could also shabby chic or victorianize them. est/
