These were used by mill wrights and early craftsmen to round spokes on a wheel or spindles on a staircase in the case of woodworking. We found this in my father's garage after he passed away. Many of his tools date from the 30's or earlier. No name or number on this tool but it measures approx. 9 7/8 in long by about 2.25 in wide at its widest. And the blade is very sharp! It definitely cuts skin! The jappaning on the handles is showing years of wear and there are some light rust spots. It looks like there are slanted lines near the blades on the handles, and it looks like there might have been wiriting on the jappaning. However it is worn off and even under a magnifying glass I can't make it out. |
