| Offering this quality made, transit in very good, clean working order. The package includes the transit, the original brass and steel plumb bob, one lens cover, and one lens sunlight shade, and a fitted wooden case. The transit is marked "DAVID WHITE MFG. BY REALIST INC. MINOMOMEE FALLS WIS. MODEL 8202". It has a few inspection sticker on it also. A well made transit, with finely machined brass fittings, and a cast frame. The frame is paint gray, and is about 98% intact, a few minor rubs, nice looking. The compass, and all three levels are in very good condition, all the fine adjustment work very well, and all the internal bushings, and movements, including threads are in very good condition. The scope is clean, and all the glass is in great shape along with the focus adjustments. All the graduation marking are very clear and easy to read. There is a little tarnish on some of the brass, but overall, in very good shape, clean, and not scratch up or damaged. The transit is seated on a 3 1/2 inch thread mount that is attached to a slide tray that holds the 8 ounce plumb bob also. The tray fits into the wooden case, and holds the transit in place with very little or no movement of the transit once the case hinged door is closed. The case also has the David White name on the outside door. The case is plywood, with a woodgrain covering on the exterior, very solid, well made to handle the weight and other than a few scratches and rubs, in very good condition overall. The case measures 7.3" x 13.3 x 15.3". We have listed the Gurley transit tripod that will fit this transit, in a separate listing, since the two items being so different in size and shape, with no ship together in the same package, and someone may just want one or the other separately. |
