Circa: 1960 Manufacturer: The Shattord Co.
From a comic series comes Brother Juniper in all his sedate humor! Three small plates or coasters, each one is done with black writing and characters on a white porcelain plate. The first one shows Brother Juniper on the floor of a grocery store at the checkout counter, with the saying, I’ll be alright in a minute, high prices always make me dizzy! (Now that’s one we all can relate to). The second one shows Brother Juniper as he just hit his thumb with a hammer while tacking up a sign which reads, Silence is Golden. The third one shows Brother Juniper standing outside near a broken window which boys throwing rocks, and he says, I keep telling myself there’s no such thing as a bad boy (two of the black letters have been washed away, but you still get the message). They are all signed by the artist, Fr. Mac. Each coaster is back stamped, Publishers Syndicate, 1960, Brother Juniper by The Shattord Co. and measure 4 1/8 in. dia. |
