The Pointer, released in 1939, was the first cartoon short subject in which Mickey appeared with the new look that had been given him for the Sorcerer’s Apprentice sequence of Fantasia-eyes with pupils replaced his old button eyes.
This original serigraph-cel from The Pointer was carefully created using the original Disney art and the film’s master print. The serigrapher has transferred the art to a clear sheet of Mylar and using the master print as a guide, applied ten individual colors, giving this serigraph a hand-crafter quality like that of an original cel. 9,500 serigraphs were created for this Limited Edition. As is the custom in fine print-making, the silk screens were destroyed when the edition was completed. And just as an original print must bear the artist’s signature for authenticity, each of these Mickey Mouse Serigraph-Cels bears the distinctive seal of Walt Disney Productions.
The entire framed Serigraph Cel measures 16 in. by 20 ½ in., in excellent condition and has been professionally matted and framed. |
