Rare early example of a detailed button made from a mix of metals. The center looks to be aluminum, while the outer section is either brass or bronze or some sort of treated steel. Measuring approximately 1 1/8" in diamter, this piece appears to be from the middle to late 1800s, a pristine 19th century piece.
Beautifully crafted, the center piece is hand decorated with an interesting, almost Asian influenced designed etching. Surrounding that are little beads that look similar to marcasites, only they are a brass or bronze material, maybe even a colored cut steel?
In excellent condition, much better than one would expect in such a nice early piece of Victoriana, the button appears to be free of any damage or repair and in 100% original condition.
