The Chautaugua Industrial Art Desk is "a plan to promote the culture of work and play among children in the home". The front swings down to reveal the learning center which consists of a roller with a series of lessons. For example shapes and animals, birds, flowers, measures and music.

The back has a map of the world (George F Cram Company Chicago) There is some wear and flaking of the map as shown in pictures. It was produced by Lewis E Myers & Company. Producers and Exclusive Distributors Valparaiso USA. The roller pages have the notation Powers, Myers & Co 1913. The desk measures 20 inches wide and 17.5 inches high. The drop down desk top measures 20 by 16.5. Condition of the roller and paper exercises is excellent. There are some scratches on the wood surface as expected in a piece of this age and use. This is a great item from the early 1900 for a collector of the unique! |
