Circa: Circa 1920s Condition: Very Good Size: 9 Inches Tall Country of Origin: United States
I do like those collectibles that stand out from the crowd. Everyone has seen chalkware horses, chalkware dogs, and even chalkware kewpie dolls. What makes this doll stand out from the rest is the wonderful paint and the delightful expression on the doll's face. I must mention that the doll is sitting on a cabbage leaf! I'd say it has that famous photographer beat by about 70 or 80 years or so.
At any rate, the pictures should be able to give you a much better idea of what I have written.

This kewpie is in very good condition. There is one painted over chip on the arm rest of the cabbage seat, but other than the normal wear and tear it is in great shape. The doll is hollow, I think.
I am showing this item at our antique mall, so it is not offered exclusively. So if you want it, wait for me to respond to you as to its availability before any money changes hands. If you decide to buy it, I will pull it from inventory as soon as I can get to the mall. |
