Manufacturer: Imperial Art Glass
This extraordinary Art Glass vase was produced by Imperial Glass known as their No. 501 Purple Amethyst circa 1916 – 1918. This art glass vase has that wonderful stretch glass effect that can be seen on the edging as shown in the pictures and the color is memorizing. The inside of the vase has a ribbed effect and smoothes to a flat top. It is approximately 5.25 - 5.50 inches tall depending where you measure it, the base is 3.25 inches in diameter and the opening is like the height 5.25 - 5.50 inches in diameter depending where you measure it. The base glass is Amethyst and the coloring which is mainly a purple / green coloring depending how the light hits it. As you can see in the pictures there are some small nicks to the grounded bottom where it meets the table (as you can see in the picture), and table wear and on the inside of the vase there is an inclusion of a piece of sand from the manufacturing process (to small to photograph) and if you hold it up to a really bright light you can see a few air bubbles. Some believe that this line of art glass was being produced to rival Tiffany’s Favrile and Steuben’s Aurene but at a lesser cost. |
