11x9x7" Beautiful Celadon glazed nude with mirror on fish, 1930's. This Bauhausian nude, admires her newly attached decoration. Done by the Komlos brothers, signed, Komlos Keramia Budapest. This actual piece featured in, Magyar Art deco Keramiak, page 125, ISBN 963 0602 02 4, Budapest 2006. In 1931 Miklós Komlós and István Komlós founded a small Ceramic Workshop / Workroom in Nyíregyháza. They designed and produced Ceramic sculptures and became well-known in the whole country (Hungary) soon. They choose their topics from the funny scenes of civil and peasant life mostly. Elegant gentlemen, ladies, Afro-American musicians, sweet animals and child figures were made in many copies. Komlós Ceramics are very well designed in static. Those have bright, fresh colors so you can realize them easily. In 1934 the brothers opened their second workshop in Budapest (VII. Hársfa street 7.). They used a new mark on their Ceramics: "Komlós testvérek Budapest" (Komlós Brothers Budapest). |
