Circa: 1991 Manufacturer: AntiqueCC Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. The British Museum's superb collection of decorative arts from Europe and America of the period 1850-1950 now numbers over 455 items, ranging from William Burges's Gothic revival metalwork to Russian porcelain of the Revolutionary years. Among the collection's main strengths are 25 pieces designed by Christopher Dresser and important groups of German and American material of the period 1890-1930, much of which is rare outside its country of origin. These include Marianne Brandt's classic silver tea-infuser, designed at the Bauhaus in 1924, and Frank Lloyd Wright's copper vase or 'weed-holder' of the 1890s. This catalogue contains substantial new information from factory archives and makes available for the first time in English much material from continental sources. Every item is illustrated, and signatures, monograms and makers' marks reproduced.
