Square solid wood frame is ornately carved and embellished with a heavily burnished gold paint to give it the look of an aged patina on Gesso. The frame in itself is wonderfully detailed with cornices of shell and crown, flower, vining and scroll. Both outer and inner border, which surrounds the plaque, are also intricately detailed. Circular plaque, measuring 9 inches in diameter has a high sheen glaze.
Frame measures 11.5 by 11.5 inches with wood back with trap door for opening. Plaque is inkmarked with the Carltons Burslam Ware, England mark. Circa 1960. Note: Not to be confused with the British manufacturer, Carlton Ware of England. Date of production, circa 1960.
