Now isn't this a good looking fellow? This old rooster once part of an old cast metal weathervane, until he and the rod he stood on went seperate ways in a bad storm. I don't know how many coats of paint he's had through the years, but he has a rather thick coat of it. The farmhouse where many of the items we will be listing was decorated with quite a number of antique lightning rod and weathervane parts. This strutting bird is made of a medium weight cast metal. I think he is solid, not hollow, but I do not believe he is made of aluminum, more likely some type of white or pot metal. The rooster measures just about 9 inches tall by 9 inches wide and stands on a different antique arrow and base than before, but he doesn't seem to mind his new roost. The stand is copper with a sheet iron mount and the arrow is also an antique. So is the white milk glass lightning ball below Mr. Rooster's feet. How about finding this good looking old guy a nice new home? |
