Circa: 1950 Manufacturer: Stangl Pottery/Made in USA
This black gold butternut squash divided handled dish is marked: Hand Painted / Stangl / Trenton, N.J. / with the number smeared #3782. In 1910, William Fulper of Fulper Pottery Company hired ceramic engineer Martin Stangl to develop new Vasekraft glazes and shapes. In 1924, William Fulper appointed Martin Stangl vice president of the company. Also at that time the company expanded by constructing Plant No. 2. At Plant No. 2 was produced Fulper Pottery's newly developed Fulper Fayence art and dinnerware lines. This line ultimately became Stangl Pottery, and for many years was advertised as Stangl Pottery, made by Fulper Pottery. After 1935, the company continued to be Fulper Pottery, but produced only Stangl Pottery brand dinnerware and artware. In good condition it does have a manufacturers flaw by the handle and a rough spot where the paint has been chipped off which I have shown in my pictures and it measures 4 1/2 inches high, 7 1/2 inches long and 7 inches wide. An addition to any Stangl Pottery Collection. SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have any other questions please contact me and thank you for looking. |
