This is an excellent condition 19th century full page engraving taken directly from the painting titled "Madonna and Child" by H. Ballheim. The engraving is removed from the 1899 copyright book titled "Light of the World, Our Saviour in Art, A Bllk Without Words...Every Picture a Sermon" which contains over 100 full page engravings of the world's greatest masterpieces. A copy of this book is in the Smithsonian Library. The publisher's preface is signed by Abram P. T. Elder. The engraving comes with the original guard sheet with descriptive letterpress.
