This is a very nice set, it appears most were never used, very sharp, no rust, no damage, very clean! The longest auger bit is the 1" size (16/16") at 9.5" long. All are the tapered end type bits to fit into the two jaw type antique braces or breast drills. They come with a good original tool roll that has a Irwin label inside it. The roll is made of a faux leather looking material, but is vynal, with a heavy cloth binding around the edge, and a clear cover flap that folds down over the auger bits before you roll up the set, to help keep them from make contact with one another. The label reads "IRWIN STOCK NO. D R THE IRWIN AUGER BIT CO. WILMINGTON OHIO U.S.A.". Each bit has a seperate pocket for it, the pocket are in good shape, also each space is marked with the fractional number size of the bit that should be in that pocket. We note some minor stains, but overall clean roll, and we note a few small cuts in the red material mostly near the shape spurs of the 10-13/16" auger bits, and a few other much smaller ones near some of the other smaller bits also. The roll is still in good enough shape to use, and it will still protect the auger bits during storage as it was intended. The roll has a good draw string. A very clean, sharp and ready to use vintage brace auger bit set! Nice! |
