Circa: 1923 Condition: Good Manufacturer: Theo. Audel & Co. New York N. Y. This is a good set of Audels with a complete set of 4 volumes printed and copyright in 1923. One of my favorite reference book sets for information on building and carpentry technics from the 1920's. The 1st volume is very good for information on tools of that days and how to care for them. This set has a number of condition issues, but is in good intact condition, no missing pages, mostly cover issues noted. Each book is 5" x 6.7" has a black leather like pressed cloth semi soft boards, gold gilt spine lettering and page edges. Each of the covers are clean, spines are tight and straight. Some wear on the gold gilt page edges and gilt on spines; volumes 2, has light water mark stains in margins mostly on several page, does not affect reading - no scribbling, a few minor riped pages that have been repaired, secured with acid free archival tape. End papers have age soiling on most volumes. Volumes 1 & 4 have creases in the covers, both have been repaired with acid free archival tape on the inside end paper. The best volumes are volumes 1 & 3, with minimal wear. The volumes 2 & 4 have more cover wear, a slight rip in the front cover of number 4 at the bottom corner where the edge meets and goes around the bottom of the spine. It is still attached, a slight rip noted. Previous owner signed inside front end papers of 2 volumes only. Good tight bindings. <br> A nice set of books covering tools, steel square, cutting tools, saw sharpening, nails, screws, joinery, furnature, math, drawings, estimating, house and roof framing, layout, foundations, doors, windows, stair building, millwork, painting, etc. Lots of good information. This is about the lowest cost 1923 set we have ever listed over the years.
