This is a hardcover cookbook called the June Platt Cookbook. It was written by June Platt, who was a featured writer for House & Garden Magazine, in 1958 and has 458 pages including the index. This cookbook is based on a philosophy that party food does not mean a long drawn out menu. The element of surprise is more important. The author believes that it is better to bewilder guests by serving an upside down cake right side up than to give them the same dishes they might find in a restaurant. Examples of some of the recipes are Braised Leg of Lamb with Olives, Yams & Oranges, Colache, Cranberry Pie, Susie's Potato Pudding, Shad Roe Mousse, Paul's Beef Stew, Thin Corn Bread, and Persian Chicken. It's in good condition considering it's age. I've thumbed through it and don't see any major flaws such as torn pages, serious stains or scribbles. You might find a spot or two or a note in the margin. The dust jacket has wear as seen in the pictures. This June Platt cookbook will provide great family meals for years to come.
