Stoneware character tankard stein. c1940s. This raised pattern stein measures about 5 inches high and offers detailed scenes of a Spanish conquistador and numerous monks. The bottom is marked Hand Painted Japan with a partial cherry blossom pattern and the letter K (possibly for Kyoto). There is a hairline one-inch crack on the inside of this vintage tankard stein and some crazing. Fine condition.
